There will be a new folder in your child's backpack on Friday. This folder is our Poetry folder; we will be learning Nursery Rhymes/Poems throughout the year. The folder will come home with them on Fridays and needs to be returned the following school day (Monday). Please assist them in reading the new Nursery Rhyme/Poetry to you and other members in the family. Get excited about the sight words they find in each poem. This really helps them remember the word. There is a letter glued in the front of the folder with instructions on how and why we do this.
Please continue to work on sight words with your child daily. Just 2 or 3 words at a time until they have mastered those 2 or 3. Then add 2 or 3 more.
The weather is starting to change so make sure they bring a sweater/jacket everyday. It is their responsibility to keep up with all their belongings. Please talk with them about making sure they put their belongings back in their backpack/cubby once they are finished with them. We will also have a conversation concerning our belongings in class.
***Please make sure that young ladies are wearing shorts under skirts and dresses. This is a must in Kindergarten, as we spend a lot of time on the floor.***
Also, if your child's pants/shorts have belt loops they must wear a school approved belt (navy, brown). After receiving 3 uniform violations, parents will be asked to schedule a conference with Mrs. Frey. Please refer to your student handbook to review our school uniform policies.
